The oils from your skin shape the patina's look over time. So go ahead. Handle it! Avoid leaving leather for extended periods of time in direct sunlight or extreme heat. Tolerates a leather cleaner or conditioner very well.

The leather log book is genuine leather, which handles water well but not for prolonged periods. The paper is archival quality, it will resist moisture and will not bleed but also will not survive prolonged exposure to water.
